Supporting Children’s Mental Health in the Classroom

An engaging and practical one hour workshop focused on understanding and supporting children’s mental health in today’s ever-changing world. This session will provide an overview of current trends and challenges impacting children’s emotional well-being and how these may manifest in classroom behaviors, engagement, and learning. Educators will explore the connection between mental health and learning, identify common signs of mental health struggles in students, and discover practical, evidence-based Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies to create a supportive, inclusive, and resilient classroom environment.

Trauma-Informed Teaching

This interactive one hour workshop explores how to create a classroom environment that supports mental health, fosters emotional safety, and promotes student well-being. Educators will gain a deeper understanding of the impact of stress and trauma on learning and behavior, and how these challenges can show up in the classroom. Through the lens of trauma-informed practice, we’ll explore practical, compassionate strategies that help students build emotional regulation skills and strengthen connections with peers and trusted adults. Learn how to shift from reactive to responsive teaching, and walk away with tools to create a calm, connected, and mentally healthy classroom where every student feels seen, supported, and ready to learn.

Understanding 504 Plans & IEP Accommodations — Meeting Students Where They Are

This practical workshop offers educators a clear framework for understanding and implementing 504 Plans and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to support diverse learners. Participants will explore how to identify and respond to student needs through appropriate accommodations that remove barriers to learning. Using real-world case examples, we’ll examine how various challenges—ranging from ADHD and anxiety to chronic health conditions—can impact classroom performance, and discuss effective strategies that have been successfully implemented in similar situations. Educators will leave with a deeper understanding of the accommodation process and actionable tools to create equitable and supportive learning environments for all students.
