His Professional Journey
Sirius didn’t become a licensed therapy dog overnight! He dedicated himself to five different training classes to master the skills needed to be a calming presence. He not only aced his final licensure test but also earned a perfect score on the rigorous Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. For the past five years, Sirius has been a dedicated fixture at a local Middle School, where he works alongside his human, James, helping students navigate the ups and downs of their school day. Sirius is licensed through The Alliance of Therapy Dogs and with that comes extra volunteer hours that Sirius needs to complete each year. Sirius has visited nursing homes, juvenile detention centers, fairs, but his favorite is to go into a school to help a class with test anxiety or help when a kid is upset. Now, he’s excited to bring his expertise and joyful spirit to Mini Minds and meet you!
Sirius’s Special Skills
Sirius is a master of calm! He’s fantastic at helping clients manage their anxiety by simply modeling a state of peace and relaxation. When you’re feeling overwhelmed or upset, Sirius is ready to spring into action. He’s currently training in Deep Pressure Therapy and is happy to lay his comforting weight across your legs to help you ground yourself and find calm.
He loves getting all the pets you have to offer and might try to give your ear a little lick if you let him!
When He’s Off-Duty
Even therapy dogs need to blow off some steam! When Sirius isn’t busy being a calming canine counselor, you can find him at the dog park—not for petting, but for a good, energetic chase with other pups! He also loves a long hike to explore new smells and, of course, a quiet evening chewing on his favorite toys.
We can’t wait for you to experience the comfort and joy that only Sirius can provide!
