Mary Tuttle

Mental Health Intern
Brief info

Hi! my name is Mary Tuttle. I have been working with young children and their families for over 25 years. I have been an infant/toddler teacher, home visitor, private nanny, and owned my own home-based infant toddler center. In addition, I have taught parent infant education classes for 10 years. After years of working with families and seeing their frustrations at lack of mental health services, I decided to pursue my master’s in social work with an infant and early childhood mental health specialty. I am in my final year of graduate school and so excited to be doing my internship here at mini minds.

I grew up in Indianapolis but lived in New York and Los Angeles before returning to Indianapolis to be closer to family in 2015. I am trained singer and continue to sing professionally on a weekly basis because it brings me so much joy. I live with my husband and 2 children ages 12 and 14 and our two dogs and two ferrets. One of my children identifies as non-binary and I run the gender and sexuality alliance at their school. I am passionate about social justice, and I love supporting families in the tender time of identity formation.

While my school specialty is in working with infants, toddlers, and their families I am comfortable working with all ages and use a developmental lens as part of treatment. I love helping children tap into who their authentic selves and support them in staying true to that while building skills in areas where they are having challenges. I approach clients from a strength-based perspective supporting them in using what they already bring with them to work towards meeting whatever goals we set as a team.

Parenting is the best and hardest job there is, and we aren’t meant to do it alone. I look forward to being a part of your family’s team as you work towards the balance and relationships you want to have with each other and your community around you.
