Casey Rutherford, RDN

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
Brief info

I completed my Master's in Human Nutrition from Winthrop University in May 2020, followed by becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) in July 2021. In my previous roles, I've had the privilege of working closely with NICU graduates in an outpatient setting, where I identified and addressed a spectrum of feeding challenges and implemented targeted interventions to support these little ones and their families. Additionally, I provided comprehensive education on lactation best practices, formula preparation, and guided the introduction of solid foods. My experience extends to pediatric nephrology and kidney transplant, where I've offered nutrition guidance to support my patients across all stages of chronic kidney disease. Additionally, I have worked with adults from pre-pregnancy to geriatric in an outpatient setting, addressing various health conditions.

What I want my families that I work with to know is that I am in your corner. With experience in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings, along with my own journey as a mother, I understand how overwhelming it can be to tackle feeding challenges, especially when you’re bombarded with conflicting advice from different sources like healthcare providers, social media, mom groups, friends, and family. My aim is to meet you where you are in your feeding journey, wherever that is. Together, we’ll come up with strategies tailored to address these challenges, all while ensuring they align with your feeding goals and lifestyle.

I also want my families to understand the type of provider I am. From early on in my career, I’ve aimed to be approachable and non-intimidating. Think of our interactions like chatting with a friend over coffee—no pressure, just comfortable conversation. I’m here to be your hype woman. I love witnessing my families and their littles grow and become confident in feeding – This is truly the best part of my job.

In my downtime, I love traveling with my husband and our 11-month-old daughter, exploring new places and making memories. You’ll often spot me with a cup of coffee in one hand and a book in the other—I’m all about that Rory Gilmore vibe. And if you catch me making jokes or indulging in sarcasm, well, that’s my inner Chandler Bing shining through.
