Speech Language Therapist
Brief info

From a young age, I knew that I wanted to work with children. I grew up babysitting and was always the older child at family events entertaining the younger ones. However, when entering my freshman year at Purdue I was not sure what specific career to choose. After researching career paths, I continued to come across the field of speech-language pathology. I was intrigued by the combination of science and anatomy, teaching, and analytical thinking that the field required. I also wanted the individual one on one time with a child where you can form a genuine connection and cater to a specific child’s interests and needs.

After selecting speech-language pathology, I finished my Bachelor Degree and Master Degree at Purdue University. In graduate school, I was exposed to different types of impairments including articulation/ phonological, express and receptive language, social/ pragmatic, and feeding issues. Upon graduating in 2018, I moved to Chicago where I worked in a preschool on the west side for 3 years. During this time, I learned more about developmental delays, early intervention, and play-based therapy. In 2020, I learned to adapt to the happenings of the world and became a “teletherapist” for a year. In 2021, I moved back to the Indianapolis area, where I am from, and accepted a job in an ABA clinic working with children on the autism spectrum. In this position, I learned more about alternative and augmented communication(AAC), analyzing and managing behaviors, facilitating total communication, and child-led therapy.

As a speech therapist, I love creating a comfortable environment for the children and being a friendly face that they enjoy seeing each time. I like being creative and catering my therapy to a child’s interest. I find this is where our sessions are most successful. Once a solid connection is formed with the child, that is when speech therapy can truly be enjoyable and they make amazing strides. Each child is unique and has different skills that I love to highlight and bring attention to while also working on the things that are more difficult for them. I am very excited for the opportunity to work with your child and to help them fully communicate with the people in their lives!
