I was born and raised in Westfield, Indiana, and now live in Broad Ripple while working full time as a speech-language pathologist at Carmel Middle School. I earned my undergraduate degree from Indiana University and my Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from Purdue University in 2021.

Sirius Black, yes he is named after the Harry Potter character, is an absolute star and a beloved member of the Mini Minds team! This handsome 7-year-old Black Lab and Beagle mix has a heart of gold and a serious passion for helping people.

Winnie is the newest member of the Mini Minds therapy dog team. Like Finn, he is a Field Spaniel, one of the 50 rarest dog breeds in the United States. With low annual registrations and a formal Vulnerable Native Breed designation in the U.K. (fewer than 300 puppies registered annually), every Field Spaniel plays an important role in the preservation and future of the breed.

Finn, owned by Kennedy, is an AKC Puppy of Achievement (POA) AKC Grand Champion (GCH), AKC Champion (CH), and UKC Champion (CH), proudly representing the Field Spaniel, a rare and vulnerable breed. Field Spaniels are among the 50 rarest dog breeds in the United States, with limited annual registrations, making each dog an important part of the breed’s preservation and history.

Hi, I’m Alise! I was born and raised in Indianapolis and spent ten wonderful years living in Colorado—earning my Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science at Colorado State University—before returning home in 2020 to pursue occupational therapy and be closer to family. Since then, I have completed my post-graduate education at the University of Indianapolis and received my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.

Elle is a Mental Health Counseling Intern and a second-year graduate student in Marian University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with minors in Counseling and Sociology, from Indiana University Bloomington. Elle’s professional experience includes working as an intern at Pathway Counseling LLC, a support group facilitator at Brooke’s Place in Indianapolis, and as a Registered Behavior Technician at LittleStar ABA Therapy. Elle gained beneficial skills through these experiences that have fueled her desire to continue working with youth in this field.

Madison Miller

Madison Miller is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with a well-rounded background in both school-based and outpatient mental health settings. She has experience providing individual and group therapy to adolescents and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, relational issues, and life transitions. Madison has facilitated adolescent intensive outpatient programming (IOP) and worked at a specialized eating disorder treatment agency, where she supported clients through recovery using evidence-based interventions. She is trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed techniques, art therapy, and strengths-based, trauma-informed care. Madison also has experience working in faith-based environments and values incorporating a holistic lens into her therapeutic work.

Michele Whaley is a dedicated and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed School Social Worker (LSSW) with a strong background in supporting children and adolescents aged 5-18. Michele holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Spanish from Ball State University, as well as a Master’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University. She specializes in addressing challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger management, emotion regulation, self-worth, trauma, self harm, and school refusal among others. Additionally, Michele enjoys collaborating with parents to foster the emotional development of their child and strengthen the family unit as a whole.
